How can a shareholder influence the policies of the companies whose shares he holds?
A share is a security that secures the rights of the one person who owns it (shareholder) to a share in the capital of a particular company (joint stock company). At the same time, it should be noted that the purchase of only one share gives the right to full participation in the company’s policy.
For example, one share is equal to one vote at annual meetings of shareholders, and depending on how many shares are in free circulation on the stock market, the influence of each individual share increases. The fewer shares in circulation, the higher, as a rule, their price, and, accordingly, the more significant the share in the company. Buyers of shares are automatically entered into the register of shareholders, or a list of all persons participating in the capital of the company, which gives them the right to participate in voting when making strategic decisions.
