Halyk Finance acted as the leading Kazakhstan manager in the placement of KazMunayGas bonds denominated in Chinese yuan (Dim Sum bonds).
JSC NC «KazMunayGas» successfully placed bonds denominated in Chinese yuan (Dim Sum bonds) with a total volume of 3.5 billion Chinese yuan.
The issue consisted of two tranches: five-year bonds worth 1.5 billion Chinese yuan with a coupon rate of 2.3% per annum and a yield of 2.45%, as well as ten-year bonds worth 2 billion Chinese yuan with a coupon rate of 2.8% per annum and a yield of 2.98%.
The high interest in the issue from international investors confirmed demand that significantly exceeded the placement volume. The issue was preceded by a two-day roadshow in Hong Kong, during which meetings were held with leading Asian investors. At its peak, the total volume of orders exceeded 25 billion Chinese yuan — more than seven times the announced issue volume. The order book became the largest in the history of Dim Sum bond issues by issuers outside China and Hong Kong.
The placement was attended by banks, insurance organizations, hedge funds, and state investment funds, indicating broad interest in the issue from various categories of institutional investors.
The funds raised through the issue will be directed to finance KMG's large-scale investment program.
The joint global coordinators, bookrunners, and lead managers were BOC International, Bank of China (Hong Kong), China CITIC Bank International, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited, and Citi. Halyk Finance acted as the Kazakh lead manager. BOCOM International and Industrial Bank Co., Ltd. Hong Kong Branch served as joint lead managers and joint bookrunners.
«The successful placement of KazMunayGas's Dim Sum bonds is a landmark deal for the Kazakh capital market.
