Microchip Technology – is a major American semiconductor manufacturer that develops microcontrollers, analog integrated circuits, and memory components that serve as the control "brain" for a wide range of modern technology. The company's business model is built on providing not individual parts, but comprehensive system solutions that are deeply integrated into customers' devices. Microchip's products are used in the automotive industry (in systems of suppliers and automakers such as Bosch, Continental, and Ford), the aerospace industry, and the defense sector (in NASA programs, as well as equipment from Boeing and Lockheed Martin), as well as in industry, telecommunications, and data centers in partnership with Siemens, Schneider Electric, Cisco, and Navitas Semiconductor.

Growth drivers:

  • Data centers and AI infrastructure – segment revenue is expected to grow by 69% year-over-year to $1 billion in 2026 (1/6 of the company's total revenue). The key catalyst is the industry's transition to the PCIe Gen 6 standard (the portfolio already includes 14 commercial projects). Despite competition (Broadcom, Astera Labs), loss of positions in Gen 5, and the still lack of mass shipments, Microchip is successfully positioning itself by releasing one of the first energy-efficient 3-nm solutions in partnership with TSMC. Products are being embedded into the architecture of leading OEM manufacturers and hyperscalers, complementing a wide range of comprehensive server component portfolios.
  • Aerospace and defense – increased government funding for defense programs, unmanned systems, and equipment modernization serves as a sustainable demand driver in the aerospace and defense industry segment. Microchip's status as a major supplier of semiconductor components to the U.S. Department of Defense ensures predictable order volumes under long-term government contracts. NATO countries' defense industrial complex modernization programs support a steady demand for specialized component bases.
  • Traditional markets and automation – the industrial and automotive segments, which account for about half of Microchip's total revenue, are showing active recovery as customers complete the inventory correction cycle. In the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, the industrial segment grew by 24.3% year-over-year, and the automotive segment grew by 29.3% year-over-year. The main growth factor in the industrial sector remains production automation, robotics, and modernization of industrial infrastructure. The company's semiconductor components are used in robot manipulator motion control systems, precise temperature control circuits, and high-precision displacement sensor signal processing modules.
  • AI server power systems – in October 2026, Microchip Technology, together with Navitas Semiconductor, unveiled a reference design for a power architecture from 800V DC to 6V DC for server systems focused on GPU clusters and AI infrastructure. The development complies with Open Compute Project standards and leverages the industry's transition to high-voltage rack power systems. This solution is aimed at further expanding the company's presence in the data center segment.
